Scarborough's Brunswick Centre saw an increase in footfall in 2019
The Brunswick centre attracted more people in 2019 than the year before, it has been announced.
The Scarborough shopping centre Brunswick has reported a 12.4 per cent increase in footfall from 2018 to 2019.
The centre enjoyed a particularly buoyant festive trading period with 25 per cent more people visiting compared to the same period in 2018.
In line with the increase, shops in the building have also reported solid trading performances.
The figures come as the icing on the cake for a year which saw the Brunswick continue to attract high spending shoppers as well as the commitment from health food retailer Holland
and Barrett to retain its store there for an additional five years.
Sue Anderson Brown, centre manager at Brunswick said in a statement: “2019 has been a great success for Brunswick with shoppers continuing to visit and spend in our centre. We are
pleased to have created so many exciting community partnerships at the centre and look forward to welcoming more exciting initiatives throughout.
Last year, the Brunswick centre was freshened up with new interiors, staff uniforms and customer signage.
It also focused on community engagement by installing local food bank donation stations, running charity partnerships, staging local artist exhibitions and launching an in-centre ping pong parlour in partnership with Table Tennis England to encourage activity and participation in sport.
