Scarborough Chamber of Trade who were instrumental in forming Scarborough’s anti-theft group is very concerned that the county council intends to cut its funding for CCTV cameras in Scarborough borough by more than 70 per cent from 2019.

The Police and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire says she has set up a review into CCTV cameras across the county.

The county council says it can find a cheaper provider for traffic management – which is what it uses them for.

Residents and businesses in the borough say they are concerned about the dangers of losing the cameras.
